Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez just received the Outstanding Achievement award (populations 100,000 and below) for the “Get Fit Doral” program at the 2017 City Livability Awards Program during the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ 85th Annual Meeting in Miami Beach.

On June 14th, the Doral City Council approved to reactivate the city’s red-light safety camera program beginning with a 60-day warning period starting on July 1st .

The City of Doral public service announcement for “See something, Say Something” has been recognized this year by the National Association of Government Communicators (NAGC) with the Blue Pencil & Gold Screen Awards in two categories. For the past 10 years, this annual international awards program has recognized superior government communication products and those who produce them.

The City has approved that a paid parental leave policy be permanently implemented for city employees. This initiative, championed by Councilwoman Ana Maria Rodriguez, was first approved back in August 2016 as a one-year pilot to be brought back for Council’s review after evaluating the cost to the city.

As part of the City’s commitment to making Doral a great place to live, learn, work, and play, the artificial turf fields at Doral Meadow Park will be replaced beginning on Monday, June 26, 2017 in order to maintain the highest quality and safety for our residents. This project will take approximately 120 days to complete.

The Doral City Council invites residents and members of the community to  Doral’s annual Independence Day Celebration with a live concert, inflatables, pony rides and a spectacular fireworks show at Doral Central  Park, located at 3000 NW 87th Ave. Each year, over 35,000 people gather for the City’s biggest event of the year. Admission and parking are free.

The City’s Information Technology (IT) Department has been recognized by the Agency for State Technology with the 2017 Florida’s “Excellence in Technology” Award for the City’s License Plate Readers Smart City Technology Project. Twenty-four projects and 13 individuals were nominated.

Summer storms and the outer edges of a tropical disturbance in the northwest Caribbean are forecast to bring as much as 2-8 inches of rain across South Florida over the next five days. Residents urged to check neighborhood drainage swales and storm drains as weekend rain forecast for region saturated by earlier storms.

CHANGE OF SCHEDULE - The Doral Police Department would like to inform residents and business owners that NW 33 Street will be closed between NW 91 Avenue and NW 97 Avenue on Friday June 16, 2017 between 6:00 AMand 5:30 PM for an event at the US Southern Command.
