In September, the City of Doral hosted the Better Bus Project workshop, held by Transit Alliance from 7pm to 9 pm. In attendance were citizens, employees from the Doral Public Works Transportation Department, and Transit Alliance staff. The purpose of the workshop was to present preliminary concepts of transit routes that were developed for Miami-Dade County with input from Miami-Dade County Transportation staff and staff of municipalities, including Transit Alliance and other additional agencies. These two concepts for Miami-Dade County include one concept developed primarily for coverage of transit routes within the County and one concept developed primarily for Ridership of transit routes, including higher frequencies within the County. Both concepts are cost neutral, meaning that they would not increase the operation and maintenance cost of current Bus Network.
Local citizens within the Doral area provided their input at the workshop regarding each concept and how each would affect their transit usage. These concepts included discussion of the City of Doral Trolley system. The City of Doral is currently conducting a study on their existing Trolley system with recommendations to be determined. These recommendations would provide potential connectivity with the concepts presented at the workshop. Final concepts are expected to be completed and presented to Board of County Commissioners in December 2019.
