City of Doral Proclaims April 22nd as Earth Day
in Commemoration of the 50th Earth Day Anniversary
Doral, FL - As part of the 2020 Earth Day Celebration, the City of Doral has proclaimed April 22, 2020 as “Earth Day”, partnering with the Earth Day Network to raise awareness to the community of Earth Day’s 50th Anniversary.
The Earth Day Network has launched several campaigns to provide resources to drive a positive change and call into action to reduce our impact and save our planet. While cities are growing at a rapid pace, making cities green is a necessary step in preparing for a healthier, more sustainable development that includes an integrated framework that addresses social, economic and environmental objectives.
Doral Mayor, Juan Carlos Bermudez, is calling for Climate Action from our citizens and it all starts at home and in our community. There are many ways you can help reduce the impact by getting informed, knowledge is power! Learn about the science behind our climate challenges; hold yourself accountable, look for tools to track your own carbon footprint; unplug, use less energy and find renewal energy options available; travel smarter, use public transportation; shop smarter, support local business and companies driven by sustainability and committed to transparency throughout the supply chain; and minimize your waste and make adjustments to change the amount of waste that you produce and recycle if possible.
Each year, the City celebrates “Earth Day” with an event that highlights the important of sustainability and our need to protect the planet. However, this year the event was cancelled following recommendations from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
