On April 4th , the City of Doral hosted a magnificent event, the Consular Reception and Sister Cities Art Showcase, to celebrate the cultural diversity within our city and our international partners. Master of Ceremonies, Viviam Maria Lopez, welcomed attendees with warmth and enthusiasm setting the tone for an evening of cultural celebration and solidarity between our Sister Cities. The event included our very own elected officials, Mayor Christi Fraga, Vice Mayor Oscar Puig-Corve, Councilman Rafael Pineyro, Councilwoman Maureen Porras, and Councilwoman Digna Cabral, as well as along with other esteemed Consulars representing several nations. The night also honored the fruitful relationships with our Sister Cities: Armenia, Colombia; Barranquilla, Colombia; Guatemala City, Guatemala; Higuey, Dominican Republic; Oranjestead, Aruba; and the Xizhi District of New Taipei City, Taiwan. Our honored guests showcased what it’s like to represent their colorful cultures and were able to highlight the city’s rich international connections. This was only further highlighted by the remarkable artwork, jewelry and various cultural displays brought on by the artisans and cultural ambassadors who made part of the event showcase. The reception also recognized the amazing contributions of the Economic Development Advisory Board, whose dedication and expertise have influenced the city’s growth and development significantly in the past few years and created this wonderful community event. Following the ceremony, attendees explored the vibrant artwork and special cultural presentations, embodying the spirit of unity, diversity, and mutual respect shared between Doral and its Sister Cities. Doral takes great pride in being a beacon of cultural exchange and fostering strong international relations. We look forward to nurturing these connections for years to come.
