On June 17th, the City of Doral and the City of Higüey, Dominican Republic signed a Sister City agreement, executed by Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez and Mayor Rafael Baron Duluc.
Doral, FL – On June 17th, the City of Doral and the City of Higüey, Dominican Republic signed a Sister City agreement, executed by Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez and Mayor Rafael Baron Duluc. The agreement will result in active cultural partnership and stimulate bilateral trade between the two municipalities. “Doral is proud to welcome the City of Higüey as a valued partner as both of our municipalities continue to grow and thrive,” said Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez. “We look forward to a fruitful collaboration through people-to-people relationships to develop innovative programs that help our communities.” Residents from Higüey and Doral will engage in mutually beneficial, cultural, educational, and business exchanges that will lead to a lasting friendship between the two cities. The Sister Cities initiative is an important one as it underscores the importance of forming relationships abroad to further the City’s smart growth program. Also in attendance was the City Council, community leaders, Dominican business owners and residents, to partake in this historic occasion. Immediately following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a reception in the lobby, sponsored by Barceló Rum, that included live music and delicious native foods.
