Doral Celebrated National Public Works Week
Doral, FL – The City of Doral joined the American Public Works Association (APWA) to honor the 2016 National Public Works Week. From May 15 to 21, National Public Works Week celebrated the contributions of Public Works professionals to the communities they serve.
“We value our communities and the role that public works professionals play in keeping them safe and functional” reports the APWA, the official sponsor of the National Public Works Week. “Our objective is to increase public awareness of their contributions, as well as to enlighten the public about the duties, practices, and goals of public works professionals.”
Public works professionals include those who manage water, sewer, public transportation, and refuse removal systems, as well as those responsible for maintaining public buildings and grounds.
“It’s important to celebrate the team that works so hard each day to maintain and improve the systems and services vital to our community’s health, safety and comfort,” said Mayor Luigi Boria.
In addition to maintaining and improving our roadways, the Public Works Department strives to protect and educate the individuals that are using these roads. Doral recognizes that providing safe and properly maintained roads sustains a symbiotic relationship between the City and its cyclist, positively impacting our community.
Mayor Luigi Boria signed a proclamation commemorating National Public Works Week bringing awareness to residents and recognizing the important and admirable work that the Public Works Department does for Doral.
