Doral, FL – The City of Doral Police Department and Parks & Police 4 Kids Foundation (PP4K) invites the community to the Doral Police Training & Community Center for National Night Out & Back to School Night on Tuesday, August 3, 2021. This fun-filled and informative event will prepare families for back-to-school season while equipping them with beneficial tips on crime watch and public safety. Activities will include: family entertainment, balloon twisters, music, and exciting police demonstrations. Free backpacks and supplies will be distributed for school-aged children for pre-registered Doral residents. The backpack giveaway, limited to two per household, is for Doral residents only and pre-registration is required -- there will be no on-site registration for backpacks. Register now -- while supplies last! This event will also mark the inauguration of the newest unit in the Doral Police Department – the Mounted Patrol Unit, which is comprised of “Ocean” a Standardbred gelding and its rider, Sergeant Javier De La Paz. We are excited to welcome Ocean to the Doral family and are grateful to the Ocean Automotive Group/Ocean Mazda based in Doral for donating it to the City. Mounted units are effective for policing parks, special events, and serve to positively engage with our community. PP4K is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit corporation organized to provide child welfare and family services to the community. The City of Doral Mayor and Council, along with the Police Department and the Parks & Recreation Department, work closely with PP4K to coordinate events and programs geared towards achieving this important goal. The introduction of National Night Out, “America’s Night Out Against Crime”, in 1984 began an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back. National Night Out now involves over 37.8 million people and 16,124 communities from all fifty states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide.
