Doral is Awarded NEAT STREETS Miami Street Tree Grant
Doral, FL – Neat Streets Miami awarded the City of Doral a Street Tree Matching grant of $12,500 in efforts to expand Miami-Dade County’s tree canopy by leveraging local resources. The City was also able to secure $2,500 from Waste Management, a long-time partner, for a $2,500 for a grand total of $15,000.
The grant funded a landscape improvement of planting trees along the medians located on N.W. 82nd Street between N.W. 107th Avenue and N.W. 116th Court and on N.W. 33rd Street between N.W. 87th Avenue and N.W. 9300 Block. The plan included 25 Live Oak trees and 34 Yellow Tabebuias.
Projects like this contribute to the City of Doral Green Master Plan, which is committed to conserve natural resources, enhance quality of life, bolster economic vitality, and leave a sustainable legacy to future generation.
Neat Streets Miami is a multi-jurisdictional county board dedicated to the maintenance and beautification of transportation corridors, gateways and connections. The street tree program was launched this year to help advance the Million Trees Miami initiative, a community-wide effort to plant one million trees and achieve a 30 percent tree canopy cover by 2020 in Miami-Dade County. Waste Management collaborates with Keep America Beautiful (KAB) through partnerships with hundreds of municipalities to contribute to the environmental improvements and beautification projects.
