On April 10, 2024, Special Agents under the leadership of FBI Director Christopher A. Wray, visited the Doral Police Department to present Chief Ewin Lopez with an award certificate for Exceptional Service in the Public Interest for his multi-decade commitment to combating violent crime in South Florida. Several Executive Command Staff personnel joined Special Agents from the FBI’s Miami Field Office for the special presentation. Mark McCormick, Assistant Special Agent in Charge, presented prestigious recognition with an accompany letter stating the following: “The FBI’s Miami Field Office would like to recognize Doral Chief of Police, Edwin Lopez for his outstanding support of the FBI’s South Florida Violent Crime and Fugitive Task Force. Chief Lopez embodies the spirit of partnership, collaboration, and dedication to protecting the American people and upholding the Constitution. His partnership has been reflected in several ways, including training exercises, sharing of best practices, and being a steward of personnel resources. A true reflection of the Chief’s leadership and values, Doral PD Detectives have become instrumental Task Force Officers, propelling the FBI’s Violent Crime Program to significant case outcomes that have benefited the community and helped combat violent crime in South Florida.
