Doral Shines its Lights on Autism Awareness
Doral, FL – On April 1, 2016, the City of Doral joins thousands of landmarks and buildings all over the world, lighting up in blue for Autism Awareness Month in April. Councilwoman Sandra Ruiz is spearheading this year’s Doral campaign as Champion for Autism, working with the community and organizations to increase understanding and public involvement.
The ceremony will take place in the rotunda outside of the Doral Government Center at 7:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to wear blue in support. Last year, 142 countries on all seven continents took part in the Autism Speaks Light It Up Blue campaign.
On April 10, 2016, approximately 20,000 will gather at Doral Central Park for the annual Autism Speaks Walk. The goal is to raise over $730,000 at this year’s walk.
Autism Speaks is the world’s leading autism science and advocacy organization, whose mission is largely focused on raising awareness on the disorder affecting an estimated 70 million people worldwide, for early diagnosis and treatment.

Doral Se Ilumina De Azul Para Concientizar Sobre el Autismo
Doral, FL – Este Próximo 1 de Abril del 2016, la Ciudad de Doral brillará bajo los destellos del azul, sumándose a la iniciativa que desde el 2007 tiñe de azul los mas emblemáticos edificios alrededor del mundo para sensibilizar sobre el autismo. Este año, la concejal Sandra Ruiz, encabeza como “campeona” esta campaña, colaborando con la organización y la Comunidad, en honor a los millones de individuos y familias afectados por el Autismo.
La ceremonia tendrá lugar en la explanada frente al Centro de Gobierno de la Ciudad de Doral a las 7:30 pm. Los asistentes al evento pueden vestir de azul en apoyo a la causa.
El año pasado, 142 países de los siete continentes participaron en esta campaña que este próximo 10 de Abril espera reunir mas de 20.000 personas en la Caminata que se llevará a cabo en el Doral Central Park. El objetivo, es la recaudación de más de 730.000 dólares.
“Autism Speaks” organizadora de estos eventos, es líder en apoyo al autismo y abanderada en la sensibilización, diagnostico temprano y nuevos tratamientos de esta enfermedad que afecta a más de 70 millones de personas en todo el mundo.
