Eagle Scout Service Projects Enrich Doral Glades Park
Doral, FL – The Boy Scouts of America, Doral Troop 552, are an active group in the Doral community that is always looking to engage in activities that further improve the City. The parks have been a great place for the Boy Scouts to participate in events and special projects. Most recently, two members completed impactful Eagle Scout service projects at Doral Glades Park, the City’s newest, award-winning park that highlights nature and Doral’s proximity to the Everglades.
In September 2021, Boy Scout Ricardo Mendez finished his project that consisted of creating interpretive signage for Doral Glades Park nature trail. He created plant identification signs placed among the various plants around the park, as well as two interpretive signs at the observation deck detailing some of the wildlife that can be found at the park. This was a beneficial addition to the park that helps visitors learn more about the local flora and fauna they see every day.
In January 2022, Boy Scout Gabriele Savino unveiled his project of improvements to the fishing dock at Doral Glades Park. He installed monofilament disposal containers, fishing signs, and rod holders on the dock. Mr. Savino also donated fishing rods, supplies, and rod holder that are available for visitors to use. This is a benefit to many visitors that may not own equipment but want to learn how to fish. This is a valuable addition to the park that will encourage visitors to fish responsibly.
Both projects were entirely funded by the respective Boy Scout member and at no cost to the City. The City of Doral is proud of Doral Troop 552 for all that they do to serve the community.
