On July 28th, Mayor Juan Carlos Bermudez sent a letter on behalf of the City of Doral to Miami-Dade County Mayor, Carlos Gimenez, opposing the new detention center facility located at 6950 NW 41 Street. The letter sites concerns on behalf of the Doral community with the building of another detention center complex next to the City which is home to many residential neighborhood. Such a facility would negatively affect property values in the area and reduce the quality of life for residents. The letter concludes with the request for Mayor Gimenez’s support and leadership in finding another location for the proposed detention center.
