In January 2022, the Department of Solid Waste Management launched the implementation of its Bulky Appointment System which allows residents to select the specific date that their bulky pile will be collected. One of the goals of the appointment system is to reduce the number of days that piles are at the curb. Rules for bulky appointment require that piles not be placed at the curb more than three days prior to the scheduled appointment date. During the first 15 months of the program (January 2022 to March 2023), the Department has provided a period of education and courtesy notifications to residents who place piles at the curb more than three days prior to their scheduled appointment date. Effective April 1, 2023, enforcement activities associated with the bulky appointment system will begin. Residents who place their piles at the curb more than three days in advance of their appointment date will be subject to enforcement action ranging from issuance of a warning notice up to and including a civil citation for non-compliance. The attached publication is being mailed to all service area residents eligible for bulky service. It reminds residents of the bulky appointment service enhancement and advises that enforcement will begin on April 1, 2023. The publication has been mailed and should start arriving in mailboxes this week. For more information, please contact 305-468-5900 or Miami-Dade County’s 3-1-1.
