Miami-Dade County Animal Services Department (Animal Services) reminds residents that “It’s hip to be tipped” and encourages them to bring community cats for FREE Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return (TNVR) services. The TNVR program helps humanely manage the County’s outdoor cat population by vaccinating, sterilizing, and ear-tipping community cats (left ear) to indicate they have received services. The TNVR program allows free roaming cats to live healthy happy lives with their feline colonies while reducing kitten births. “As a cat owner myself, I know how hip it is to be tipped because it means that our community cats are getting good care. If we want to see more of our community cats sporting tipped ears, we need residents’ help to bring cats in for care and to help us identify large cat colonies so that we can target efforts for greatest impact,” said Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “I am very proud of the Animal Services team and our animal-loving residents for working together to keep our community animals healthy and safe.” Animal Services’ TNVR program is an industry leading best practice that aims to humanely manage the free roaming cat population and is available to any Miami-Dade County resident to bring in outdoor cats to be vaccinated and sterilized for free, before returning the cats to their community. Residents can take cats to the Animal Services Pet Adoption and Protection Center or the Pets Thrive in 305 Community Cat Center for these free services. Once the cats have been medically cleared for release, residents can pick up the cats and return them to the location where the cats were trapped. Animal Services offers traps on loan to help residents catch the cats. Residents can also submit a service request for cat trapping services by filling out a request online or calling 311. Request are prioritized by the density of the identified cat population and volume of request in particular areas. All cats are returned to their cat colonies in their neighborhoods after they have received services from Animal Services and are ear tipped. TNVR services are provided on a walk-in basis only. No appointment is required at either location. Locations and Hours: • Pet Adoption and Protection Center in Doral 3599 NW 79th Avenue Doral, Florida 33122 Monday - Friday between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. or Saturday and Sunday 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. • Pets Thrive in 305 Community Cat Center in Cutler Bay 10700 SW 211th Street Cutler Bay, FL 33189 Tuesday - Friday between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. TNVR Program Guidelines • All cats must be treated humanely, with dignity and respect. • FREE TNVR services only available to Miami-Dade County residents and only Miami-Dade County cats are eligible. • Cats must be at least 2 months old or weigh 2 pounds to be eligible for TNVR services. • Once services have been performed and the cats are medically cleared for release, the cats will be returned to their cat colony home location where the cats were living. • Animal Services reserves the right to reject TNVR services, if in the best interest of the cat.
