The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department (WASD) is committed to providing reliable and safe drinking water to its customers. To this end, the Department utilizes various state-of-the-art methods to monitor and assess the condition of its infrastructure.
We have recently been alerted that portions of the 96-inch raw water main located along Northwest 74 Street will need to undergo refurbishment.
WASD staff will begin preparing for construction starting Saturday, December 2 with construction activities and refurbishment of the water main commencing on Monday, December 4. The project is anticipated to be completed in 10 days. Work during
that period will take place 24 hours a day until completed.
There will also be intermittent lane closures in the area of Northwest 74 Street and Northwest 70 Avenue to accommodate the construction work.
While this project is on-going, the northern and northeastern portions of Miami-Dade County may experience intermittent instances of lower-than-normal water pressure, especially during peak demand times in the early morning and evening hours.
We know this can be an inconvenience; however, being able to identify and proactively address infrastructure repairs prior to failure results in a lesser impact both in terms of potential impact to the surrounding community, the time service is
impacted and cost.
WASD staff will also employ mitigating actions to offset impacts to consumers. We thank you in advance for your understanding and patience during this time as we complete this essential upgrade. We look forward to continuing to provide you with
excellent service.
