Police & Public Works Expansion Reaches Major Milestone
Doral, FL – City councilmembers and administrators joined the project’s designer, architects and contractors celebrating the topping off of the Police and Public Works expansion. The event marks the symbolic completion of the two story structure, scheduled to open in autumn 2016.
The new Category 5 hurricane facility allows Police and Public Works to provide increased levels of service to the community. In addition, building construction used the innovative concrete tilt-up technique. With this cost-effective and durable method, walls are placed on-site on the floor slab, and then tilted up and secured in place.
The 36,282 square foot Police addition includes support areas like property and evidences rooms, motorcycle garage, crime scene processing area, as well as general offices, locker and storage rooms among other features.
The 6,741 square foot Public Works expansion includes a three service bay facility for routine vehicle maintenance, a mezzanine for office, employee dining area, lockers rooms and storage areas as well as a new vehicle wash system.
The site improvement includes new landscape, water and sewer connections, a new drainage system with a retention pond area and new parking spaces for eight bicycles and 120 vehicles.
