PROJECT UPDATE - Repairs are well underway to fix the large broken water pipe that lies under NW 74 Street and distributes a large volume of water to the Hialeah water treatment plant.
The Project Manager has reported that the broken section of pipe has been replaced, and the plugs used to keep the water in the pipe from contamination are being removed to allow the return of normal water flow. Additionally, workers are making adjustments to water valves and the construction of a new access manhole is also in progress.
In the meantime, the large excavation on NW 74 Street is being backfilled and properly compacted in layers as per applicable specifications. If all goes as planned according to schedule, NW 74 Street should be resurfaced and opened for regular traffic by Saturday, March 19.
