Vice Mayor Ana Maria Rodriguez Champion for Autism
Doral, FL – Doral is proud to announce that the South Florida Chapter of Autism Speaks has selected Vice Mayor Ana Maria Rodriguez as Champion for Autism this year. Moved by the mission of this wonderful organization, the Vice Mayor will play an active role to increase understanding and public involvement.
“About 1 percent of the world’s population has autism spectrum disorder. I am honored to champion for Autism and to advocate for those in our community affected by it,” said Vice Mayor Ana Maria Rodriguez. “My goal is to help raise funds to support individuals with autism, increase awareness and motivate all Doral residents to join us at the walk in April.”
On Sunday, April 29th, the City of Doral will proudly host the 2018 Miami Walk Now for Autism Speaks. Registration starts at 7:30 a.m., followed with the Opening Ceremony at 8:30 a.m., and the walk at 10:00 a.m. Powered by love, this fun-filled, family event brings thousands together to walk the park in efforts to change the future for all who struggle with autism.
Walk Now for Autism Speaks, is the nation's largest grassroots autism walk program, is Autism Speaks' signature fundraising and awareness event, taking place in communities across the United States, as well as in Canada. Powered by volunteers and families with loved ones on the autism spectrum and local businesses and companies that employ those on the spectrum, this successful grassroots fundraising effort not only generates vital funds for autism research but also raises awareness about the increasing prevalence of autism and the need for increased research funding to combat this complex disorder.
