Community Policing
Community Policing focuses on building positive relationships with the community. It underlines proactive problem-solving in a routine manner. Community Policing encourages partnerships with various organizations such as schools, local churches, and community based organizations. Rather than responding to crime only after it occurs, community policing encourages officers to proactively develop solutions in partnership with the community.
School Resource Unit (SRO)
The school Resource Unit is an extension of the Doral Police Department’s dedication to our Community Policing philosophy. The officers assigned to a school possess the skill to build relationships, solve problems and enforce the law while focusing on the quality of life within the school and surrounding community. The School resource Officers (SROs) accomplish this by being proactive and community driven. Officers teach a number of programs such as D.A.R.E., anti-bullying, drug awareness, and safe driving.
